About KPV

KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment (Lys-Pro-Val) of α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH), retaining significant anti-inflammatory activity of the parent peptide while lacking pigmentary effects. Published research has documented NF-κB pathway suppression, mast-cell stabilisation and protective effects in models of inflammatory bowel disease and skin inflammation. ≥98% HPLC, third-party CoA.

In-depth guide

KPV 10mg — research overview, mechanism & protocol guidance

KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment (Lys-Pro-Val) of α-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH), retaining significant anti-inflammatory activity of the parent peptide while lacking pigmentary effects. Extensively researched for NF-κB suppression, mast-cell stabilisation and protective effects in inflammatory bowel disease and skin inflammation models. UK Peptides supplies KPV 10mg as ≥98% HPLC lyophilised powder with a signed third-party Certificate of Analysis.

What is KPV? The C-terminal α-MSH tripeptide

KPV consists of just three amino acids — lysine, proline and valine — corresponding to residues 11-13 of α-MSH. Despite its small size, KPV retains a substantial fraction of α-MSH's anti-inflammatory activity in multiple research models while being pharmacokinetically simpler, more stable, and free of melanocortin receptor pigmentary effects. It is one of the smallest bioactive peptides in the current research literature.

KPV mechanism of action in research models

Published research has documented KPV suppression of NF-κB activation in immune cells, inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine release (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8), mast-cell stabilisation reducing histamine release, and protective effects on epithelial barrier integrity in gut and skin models. Its mechanism appears to be substantially receptor-independent — cytoplasmic uptake and direct interference with inflammatory transcription factor activation is one leading hypothesis in the literature.

KPV research applications

Published research has investigated KPV in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's and ulcerative colitis) models, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis research, mast-cell and allergy pathway studies, epithelial barrier integrity research, wound-healing inflammatory-phase studies, and comparative anti-inflammatory pharmacology against BPC-157 and other repair peptides. The 10mg vial supports extended research protocols.

Reconstitution, storage and stability

Store the lyophilised vial at -20°C, sealed and protected from light. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) — typically 1–2ml per 10mg vial. Add solvent slowly down the side of the vial; do not shake. Refrigerate the reconstituted solution at 2–8°C and use within 28 days. Do not refreeze after reconstitution.

≥98% HPLC purity — independently verified

Every KPV 10mg lot is independently HPLC-UV tested to ≥98% purity by Janoshik Analytical or Aspen Bioanalytics, with mass-spectrometry identity confirmation against the published molecular weight of 342.44 Da. The signed PDF Certificate of Analysis is supplied with every order and matches the vial lot number.

KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It retains a substantial fraction of α-MSH's documented anti-inflammatory activity in cell and animal models while lacking the pigmentary activity mediated by the full peptide's binding to MC1R.

Storage & handling

Keep it stable, keep it sterile

Storage: Store lyophilised powder at -20°C in a sealed vial. Protect from light and moisture. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation entering the vial. Do not store in a frost-free freezer. Reconstitution: Reconstitute using bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol). Add solvent slowly down the side of the vial — do not shake. Allow to dissolve gently at room temperature. Reconstituted stability: Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C (refrigerated). Use within 28 days. Do not refreeze after reconstitution. Shipping: All vials are dispatched in insulated mailers with ice packs to maintain cold chain during Royal Mail Tracked 24 transit.

"Spot-checked the KPV 10mg vial against an in-house standard and the identity match was clean. Purity on our column was 99.1%, consistent with the supplied CoA. Exactly the standard a lab needs."

"Solid all round. KPV 10mg purity verified independently and matched the CoA closely. Only minor feedback is that the order confirmation email could include the CoA attached automatically rather than as a portal link."

"Ordered KPV 10mg on behalf of a university research group. Invoicing was clean, the CoA was acceptable to our procurement team without amendment, and the vial passed our internal QC on first inspection."
