What is Melanotan II (MT-2)?
Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic analogue of α-MSH developed at the University of Arizona in the 1980s as a more stable, longer-acting research tool for studying the melanocortin receptor system. The peptide acts as a non-selective agonist at MC1R, MC3R, MC4R and MC5R receptors, making it one of the most useful reference compounds for exploring the entire melanocortin signalling network in cell-based and animal-model research.
