FAQ

5-Amino-1MQ UK: common questions

What's the 5-Amino-1MQ price?
10mg £29.99, 50mg £34.99. Packs of the 10mg: two £53.98, three £71.98, five £104.97, 10%, 20% and 30% off.
Is 5-Amino-1MQ a peptide?
No. It's a small molecule, 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium, PubChem CID 950107, 159.2 Da as the cation. It is usually supplied as the iodide salt (CID 66522933, 286.1 Da). There is no amino acid sequence to check.
How fast is delivery?
Same day, from Manchester, whenever you order. Royal Mail Tracked 24 aims for next working day delivery. Free over £40, otherwise £3.99.
What else do I need with 5-Amino-1MQ?
Bacteriostatic water, to dissolve the freeze-dried powder. We stock it, and you can add it from the Storage section above.
How should I store 5-Amino-1MQ?
Sealed vial: -20°C, away from light. Once reconstituted: 2-8°C, use within 28 days, and don't refreeze.
Can I buy 5-Amino-1MQ in the UK?
Yes, for laboratory research. 5-Amino-1MQ isn't a controlled drug in the UK and has no UK licence as a medicine, so it's sold for research use only, not for human use. It is not on the WADA list. You must be 18 or over.

About 5-Amino-1MQ

5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule, not a peptide. It is 5-amino-1-methylquinolinium, a quaternary quinolinium cation with no amino acids and no peptide bonds. It was designed at the University of Texas Medical Branch by Neelakantan, Watowich and colleagues in 2017 as a selective, membrane-permeable inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), the enzyme that methylates nicotinamide. We sell it as freeze-dried powder in 10mg and 50mg vials, for laboratory research only.

In depth

5-Amino-1MQ in the research literature

The published record on 5-Amino-1MQ is short and comes from one academic group. The enzyme it targets, nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), methylates nicotinamide to 1-methylnicotinamide, which removes nicotinamide from the NAD+ salvage pathway. Pissios and colleagues (2017) reviewed why NNMT had come to be read as more than a vitamin B3 clearance enzyme, and that review frames the interest in a selective inhibitor.

The compound itself appears in Neelakantan, Watowich and colleagues (2017), a structure-activity study of quinolinium compounds as NNMT inhibitors run in enzyme inhibition assays, with 5-Amino-1MQ among the leads. Their 2018 Biochemical Pharmacology paper took membrane-permeable compounds from that series into cultured adipocytes and a mouse model, using 1-methylnicotinamide levels as the readout of NNMT activity. That is close to the whole literature: cell and mouse work, no clinical development anywhere, and no registry name lookup for the common label, so searches run on the full chemical name.

5-Amino-1MQ vs NAD+: which to order

They sit on the same pathway but are different kinds of material. NAD+ is the coenzyme itself, a dinucleotide. 5-Amino-1MQ is a quaternary quinolinium cation, 159.2 Da, that inhibits NNMT, the enzyme that consumes the nicotinamide the salvage pathway would otherwise recycle into NAD+. Neither is a peptide or a licensed medicine anywhere.

The lab report, once published on this page, will show identity by mass, quoted either for the cation at 159.2 or for the iodide salt at 286.1, since suppliers ship the iodide. To buy 5-Amino-1MQ UK for a first run, start on the 10mg size; the 50mg vial costs little more per milligram, and packs of two, three or five 10mg vials take 10, 20 or 30 percent off. Orders dispatch the same day from Manchester, with free UK delivery over £40.

Stocked in the UK and dispatched from Manchester the same day you order. The lab report for this lot will be published on this page.
