FAQ

Thymalin UK: common questions

What's the Thymalin price?
£22.99 for one 10mg vial. Two vials are £41.38, three are £55.18 and five are £80.47, which is 10%, 20% and 30% off. Each price is for one freeze-dried vial of research-grade peptide.
Is Thymalin a single peptide, and is it the same as thymulin?
No to both. Thymalin is a calf thymus polypeptide preparation with no single PubChem record (CAS 79621-14-0). Research vials sold as Thymalin are usually the synthetic dipeptide Glu-Trp (thymogen, CID 100094, 333.3 Da), one of its active dipeptides. Thymulin is a different nine-residue peptide.
How fast is delivery?
Same day, from Manchester, whenever you order. Royal Mail Tracked 24 aims for next working day delivery. Free over £40, otherwise £3.99.
What else do I need with Thymalin?
Bacteriostatic water, to dissolve the freeze-dried powder. We stock it, and you can add it from the Storage section above.
How should I store Thymalin?
Sealed vial: -20°C, away from light. Once reconstituted: 2-8°C, use within 28 days, and don't refreeze.
Can I buy Thymalin in the UK?
Yes, for laboratory research. Thymalin isn't a controlled drug in the UK and has no UK licence as a medicine. It is registered as a medicine in Russia, but this vial is research-grade powder, not that product, for research use only. You must be 18 or over.
Research Compound

About the Thymalin peptide

Thymalin is the name Vladimir Khavinson and Vyacheslav Morozov gave to a polypeptide fraction they extracted from calf thymus in Leningrad in the 1970s. It is a mixture of short acidic peptides, not one molecule, and later work from the same group identified the dipeptides Lys-Glu and Glu-Trp as its main active components. Research vials sold as Thymalin are usually synthetic peptide matched to that work. We sell it as freeze-dried powder in a 10mg vial, for laboratory research only.

In depth

Thymalin in the research literature

Almost everything published on Thymalin comes from one source, the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, where Khavinson and Morozov first prepared the extract. Anisimov and Khavinson, 2010, review the group's own long-term rodent studies and clinical observations. Khavinson and colleagues, 2020, cultured human haematopoietic stem cells with Thymalin and followed expression of the surface markers CD44, CD117 and CD28. Linkova and colleagues, 2023, is the paper that treats the dipeptides Lys-Glu and Glu-Trp as the active substances: it docks each against double-stranded DNA, runs promoter and pathway bioinformatics, and measures IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α by ELISA in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated blood mononuclear cells from four donors.

Two cautions. No independent English-language critical review of Thymalin exists on PubMed. And the studies above use the Russian drug, a calf thymus extract, so their findings do not transfer directly to a synthetic single dipeptide sold under the same name.

Thymalin: what is actually in the vial

The Russian medicine Thymalin is a polypeptide extract of calf thymus, CAS 79621-14-0, with no single structure, formula or mass and no PubChem compound record. Research vials labelled Thymalin usually hold something narrower: the synthetic dipeptide Glu-Trp, also called thymogen, CID 100094, 333.3 Da, one of the two dipeptides the Khavinson group names as the drug's active substances. A few vendors instead describe a bovine-derived complex. The lab report, once published on this page, will settle which this is: a single dipeptide gives one mass at 333.3 Da, while an extract shows a spread of peptides. It is not thymulin, a nine-residue peptide. To buy Thymalin UK there is one 10mg size, with packs of two, three or five at 10, 20 and 30% off. Same-day dispatch from Manchester, free UK delivery over £40.

Stocked in the UK and dispatched from Manchester the same day you order. The lab report for this lot will be published on this page.
