About the GHRP-6 peptide
GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, with two D-amino acids and an amidated C-terminus. Cyril Bowers and colleagues at Tulane University reported it in 1984 as the first of the growth hormone releasing peptides, built from met-enkephalin derived sequences. Its receptor was later identified as GHS-R1a, the ghrelin receptor. We sell it as freeze-dried powder in a 5mg vial, for laboratory research only.

GHRP-6 in the research literature
GHRP-6 is where the secretagogue field starts. Bowers and colleagues, 1984, described a synthetic hexapeptide that released GH from rat pituitary in vitro and in vivo while leaving the other pituitary hormones alone, the end point of a decade of work on met-enkephalin analogues with weak activity. Cheng and colleagues, 1989, showed in rat primary pituitary cell culture that it acted through a different pathway from GHRH, with synergy between the two on GH release and cAMP accumulation, which argued for a receptor nobody had found. Howard and colleagues, 1996, cloned that receptor as GHS-R, and Kojima and colleagues, 1999, identified its endogenous ligand, ghrelin, in stomach. Bowers' 1998 review in Cell Mol Life Sci sums up the first fifteen years. GHRP-6 was never developed into a medicine; SmithKline's code SKF-110679 went no further than early studies. The recent literature is analytical: Cox and colleagues, 2015, describe detection of GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 in athletes' urine, following the WADA S2.2.4 listing.
GHRP-6 vs GHRP-2 vs Ipamorelin: which to order
GHRP-6 is the reference hexapeptide the other two were built from, and the one to order when a protocol or an older paper names His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2 directly. Its formula, C46H56N12O6, carries the most nitrogen of the three, from the histidine imidazole and two indole rings; GHRP-2 swaps the D-Trp for D-2-Nal and drops to 818.0 Da, Ipamorelin loses a residue and lands at 711.9 Da. Two tryptophans also give GHRP-6 a clear UV absorbance at 280 nm that the other two lack, useful when quantifying by spectrophotometer. PubChem holds two records; the stereo-defined CID 9919153 is the one the label follows. The lab report, once published on this page, will show the 873 mass.
