FAQ

LL-37 UK: common questions

What's the LL-37 price?
£29.99 for one 5mg vial. Two vials are £53.98, three are £71.98 and five are £104.97, which is 10%, 20% and 30% off. Every vial ships from our Manchester stock on the day you order.
Is this the full 37-residue LL-37 sequence?
Yes. It is the complete 37-residue human cathelicidin fragment, LLGDFFRKSKEKIGKEFKRIVQRIKDFLRNLVPRTES, with a molecular weight of 4,493.0 Da and PubChem CID 16198951. It is not the hCAP18 precursor and not a shortened fragment such as KR-12.
How fast is delivery?
Same day, from Manchester, whenever you order. Royal Mail Tracked 24 aims for next working day delivery. Free over £40, otherwise £3.99.
What else do I need with LL-37?
Bacteriostatic water, to dissolve the freeze-dried powder. We stock it, and you can add it from the Storage section above.
How should I store LL-37?
Sealed vial: -20°C, away from light. Once reconstituted: 2-8°C, use within 28 days, and don't refreeze.
Can I buy LL-37 in the UK?
Yes, for laboratory research. LL-37 isn't a controlled drug in the UK and has no UK licence as a medicine, so it's sold for research use only, not for human use. It is not on the WADA Prohibited List. You must be 18 or over.
Research Compound

About the LL-37 peptide

LL-37 is a 37-residue peptide that starts with two leucines, LLGDFFRKSKEKIGKEFKRIVQRIKDFLRNLVPRTES. It is cut from the C-terminus of hCAP18, the single human cathelicidin encoded by the CAMP gene, and was first characterised by Gudmundsson and Agerberth in Stockholm in the mid 1990s. It folds into a cationic amphipathic helix and is studied in membrane and innate immunity models. We sell it as freeze-dried powder in a 5mg vial, for laboratory research only.

In depth

LL-37 in the research literature

The human cathelicidin was first found as a cDNA from bone marrow: Agerberth and colleagues, 1995, named the predicted peptide FALL-39 after its first four residues and showed it was cysteine-free. Gudmundsson and colleagues, 1996, then isolated the processed form from granulocytes and found it two residues shorter, LL-37, which is why both names survive. Johansson and colleagues, 1998, tied its antibacterial activity to conformation. Sørensen and colleagues, 2001, identified proteinase 3 as the enzyme that cuts LL-37 from hCAP18 outside the cell. Wang and colleagues, 2008, solved its structure in lipid micelles and defined KR-12 as the smallest active fragment.

The Dürr 2006 review covers membrane models, biofilm assays and receptor work. Kahlenberg and colleagues, 2013, present the other side, reviewing LL-37 as a driver of inflammation and autoimmune disease, so the literature is not one-directional.

LL-37 vs KPV: which to order

LL-37 and KPV come from different parents. LL-37 is the 37-residue C-terminal fragment of human cathelicidin hCAP18, 4,493.0 Da, cationic and helical, PubChem CID 16198951. KPV is Lys-Pro-Val, the three C-terminal residues of alpha-MSH, 342.4 Da, PubChem CID 125672, studied through melanocortin pathways rather than membrane disruption. Pick LL-37 for cathelicidin, membrane or biofilm work and KPV for alpha-MSH fragment work. Neither has a UK licence; LL-37's INN ropocamptide reached phase II and stopped.

The label shows LL-37 and 5mg, and the lab report, once published on this page, will show the measured mass against 4,493.0 Da, separating full-length LL-37 from fragments such as KR-12. One size, with packs at 10, 20 and 30% off. Buy LL-37 UK stock and it leaves Manchester the same day, with free UK delivery over £40.
