About the Epithalon peptide
Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, with the one-letter code AEDG. Vladimir Khavinson's group at the St Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology designed it in the 1990s as a defined synthetic stand-in for epithalamin, a bovine pineal gland extract. It is studied in telomerase and cell senescence models. We sell it as freeze-dried powder in a 10mg vial, for laboratory research only.

Epithalon in the research literature
The published work on Epithalon comes almost entirely from one lineage: Khavinson's institute in St Petersburg and the Anisimov group's animal colonies. Khavinson and colleagues, 2003, reported telomerase activity and telomere length in cultured human somatic cells exposed to the peptide, and a 2004 paper from the same group extended this to the division limit of cells in culture. Anisimov and colleagues, 2005, ran the peptide beside melatonin in senescence-accelerated mice, and Kossoy and colleagues, 2006, studied spontaneous tumour incidence in female C3H/He mice. Most of this sits in Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine and Russian-language journals, with small groups, and independent replication from outside this network is hard to find. The Jain 2026 narrative review separates the mechanistic claims from the clinical evidence, and the gap is wide. Vanhee and colleagues, 2015, identified the tetrapeptide by LC-MS in two unlicensed preparations seized in Belgium, its main appearance in the regulatory literature.
Epithalon vs Pinealon: which to order
Both are short Khavinson peptides sold as 10mg freeze-dried vials, and both look the same in the vial, so the paperwork separates them. Epithalon is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, C14H22N4O9, 390.35 Da, CAS 307297-39-8. Pinealon is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg, C15H26N6O8, 418.4 Da, CAS 175175-23-2. They share Glu and Asp and nothing else: Epithalon has an N-terminal alanine and C-terminal glycine, Pinealon ends in arginine. The telomerase and senescence assays use Epithalon; the gene expression and DNA binding work uses Pinealon. The lab report, once published on this page, will show the 390 mass and the AEDG sequence. Neither is controlled in the UK or named by WADA.
