About IGF-1 LR3
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) is an 83-amino-acid recombinant analogue of human IGF-1, engineered with an N-terminal 13-amino-acid extension and an arginine substituted for the native glutamate at position 3 of the IGF-1 sequence, which together reduce affinity for the IGF-binding proteins. Its established application is as a cell-culture supplement: cultured cells secrete their own IGFBPs into the medium, sequestering added IGF-1 by a fraction that varies with cell type, density and culture age, and an analogue that resists them keeps nominal and effective concentration closer together — a reproducibility gain rather than a potency gain.
