About Selank
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, extended with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro motif for protease resistance and developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It appears in the literature as Selank, as the sequence shorthand TKPRPGP, and under the development code TP-7. The published record is preclinical and predominantly conducted in rats: reported inhibition of enkephalin-degrading enzymes measured on plasma enkephalinase activity, reported effects on GABA-A receptor expression in the hippocampus rather than direct binding at the receptor, and regulation of BDNF expression following intranasal administration. Tuftsin signals through the receptor neuropilin-1; Selank has no identified receptor of its own, and whether the extension preserves that engagement is not established. PubMed indexes roughly 135 Selank records, against about 690 for tuftsin itself. No Western regulator has assessed the compound. Selank has a registration history in the Russian Federation and holds no MHRA, EMA or FDA authorisation. UK Peptides supplies it as ≥98% HPLC lyophilised powder with a signed third-party Certificate of Analysis, strictly for in-vitro and preclinical laboratory research. It is not a licensed medicine and is not for human or veterinary use.
