Where the name comes from
It is a reference to the Marvel character whose defining trait is healing rapidly from injury. The name attached itself to the BPC-157 and TB-500 pairing because both are studied in tissue repair contexts, and it spread through forums and vendor listings rather than through any literature. No paper uses it.
The two compounds are genuinely different
BPC-157 is a fifteen-residue sequence derived from a protein in gastric juice, studied mainly for tendon, ligament and gastrointestinal repair, with angiogenesis and growth factor signalling as proposed mechanisms. TB-500 is Ac-LKKTETQ, a seven-residue fragment of thymosin beta-4, studied for actin sequestration and cell migration. The stated rationale for pairing them is that they act through different routes, which is at least true.

What the co-administration evidence actually is
Thin. Each compound has its own rodent literature; studies giving both together and measuring whether the combination outperforms either alone are far scarcer. The pairing is a plausible hypothesis that has largely not been tested, and a term that sounds like a finding is doing a lot of work to obscure that.
What the name obscures
A nickname carries no specification. It says nothing about sequence, purity, quantity or which fragment is in the vial — and the TB-500 half is a compound routinely confused with the full thymosin beta-4 protein it derives from. Anyone evaluating material sold under this name is better served by the certificate than by the branding.

It is derived from a fragment identified in human gastric juice by the Zagreb research group (Sikirić and colleagues), whose body of published work spans three decades and covers models ranging from tendon repair to gut integrity. The 'BPC' initials stand for 'body protection compound' — the group's original characterisation term.
Two forms: acetate salt vs arginate
BPC-157 is supplied most commonly as an acetate salt; a small subset of suppliers offer the arginate form, which has slightly different solubility and stability properties. For research reproducibility, keep the salt form consistent across a study and confirm which form the CoA specifies (mass ± counterion changes the reading).

A trustworthy BPC-157 CoA lists HPLC purity (target ≥98% area), mass-spec confirmation (~1,419 Da for the free peptide), water content (Karl Fischer), acetate content, and residual solvents. Some batches also include endotoxin data. Any missing category is a red flag for a compromised supply chain.
